Tours
Our volunteers are delighted to offer tours of the Hobart Synagogue. Curious Jewish visitors join us to learn about the remarkable history and current status of our congregation, and to view the unique architecture and artefacts in the 1845 building.
Individuals & Families
Individual Visits
Tours run from 9am and last approximately an hour. There's no fixed charge — a donation to the congregation is invited and received with gratitude.
Education

We're happy to accommodate school tours to meet curricular requirements, with no fixed charge for the visit.

Good to Know
General tour information
On the Tour Booking Form below, you may join an existing tour already scheduled, or request a new tour.
- Our volunteer guides require 48 hours advance notice for a new tour request. Please do not submit this form if you are requesting a new tour within 48 hours, as we will not be able to fulfil your request.
- There is no fixed charge for tours given to individuals, small groups or school tours. However, your donation to the congregation will be invited and received with gratitude. We will also gladly accept money in your local currency.
- Tours are available from 9am. They last approximately an hour. There are no tours on Shabbat or on Jewish holidays.
- We're happy to accommodate school tours to meet curricular requirements.
- Parking is limited to paid street parking in the vicinity (subject to availability) or paid carparks that are a few blocks away. There are no spots available right outside the Synagogue. If you must drive, it is best to give sufficient time for parking. More information on location, and a map.

Do I need to book a tour in advance?
Yes — tours run most weekdays by appointment. Please contact us in advance to arrange a time.
Is there a dress code?
Modest dress is requested; a head covering is available at the entrance for those who would like one. See our Visit page for full etiquette guidance.
Is the building accessible?
Ground-floor access is available. Please contact us ahead of your visit so we can arrange any assistance you need.
